Demo for Springharvest 2013

I had great fun on Sunday afternoon when loads of friends and supporters from The King's Church, Wisbech (and a couple from further afield) descended upon Grange Farm Studio in Emneth! We were there to record a 'live congregation' sound of a brand new song 'Perfect Love'.

This is all because Springharvest (a large Christian Festival that happens during Easter in the UK) invited me to submit a song/songs for consideration to be added to the Springharvest 2013 Songbook. I was not successful in other years past, so this year I was (and am) a bit more determined to try harder and hopefully succeed. So this year I've gone all-out! I have written a song specifically for Springharvest 2013 - after doing much research on their website as to 2013's theme and the book of the Bible they will be using as their major text. I even took some of the congregation along with me to the studio to help give the recording a 'live congregational' feel.

If you are on facebook - why not click over to the Spring Harvest group page and 'like' or comment on the post I've left there to help it get noticed by those who make the decisions - Thanks. https://www.facebook.com/#!/springharvest

The song is called 'Perfect Love' and is based entirely on 1 John. It takes on a narrative style and moves the listener/singer through a series of questions and responses:

1. Who/what is perfect love?
2. Jesus is. He embodies perfect love (God is love).
3. Now that we have found Jesus, how can we live out the gospel in our everyday lives in our real word situations?
4. By loving each other!

The song takes on an unusual structure when compared against other modern worship songs, as it has two choruses! But the congregation has picked it up easily and have reported back that it is in a comfortable key to sing as well as having a memorable tune (some have woken up singing it!). Have a listen below!
This morning I posted the CD of the demo recording we did of the song along with all the other details to the Springharvest Songbook Listening Committee - now all I have to do is wait. Please join me in praying that if God want's to use this song, that the committee will hear it and select it for the songbook. Thanks.

And an especially big 'Thank you' to all those who came out to the studio to help make the demo. You sound fantastic!

Perfect Love

Perfect love, where can we find You?
Perfect love, how can we define You?
How can we define?
God sent His son to us, to show us how to live
A life of love
God sent his son to die, to take away our sin
There is no greater love, there is no greater love, than this
Jesus Christ, now that we have found You
We desire to live as You have lived
To live as one
To live deeply, drawing from the source
Of life and love
To love each other, walking in the light
To live a life of love, to live a life of love (x2)
This is our desire (repeat)

  3. Thanks for your good wishes - however this song was not selected for Springharvest 2013 :(

But the good news is, if you still like it and want to use it in your church, you can do so because it has been filed with CCLI so all the copyright licenses are in place to enable you to do so.
