#AdventChallenge Day 4

Theme: Baby Steps
John 6:9-14

“Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”
Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.
When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.
After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”

My Challenge:
Hold the door open for someone

I thought this challenge would take time to fulfill but I didn't have to wait long. Yesterday my wife and I were enjoying a trip to London and we were just coming out of Selfridges on Oxford Street and an elderly couple were also trying to exit through the same door. My wife held the door open for them (yes, she beat me to it) and I stood aside to let them through before me. I know I was not the one holding the door, but I feel the same principle applied as I stood aside and preferred the stranger.
On the same extremely busy and crowded street I also stopped and picked up something that a mother pushing a pram and with a very going baby strapped to her front dropped something. She smiled and was grateful for the help.

What I Learnt:
A small action can make a big difference
